Joe's American Almanac

Howdy!!! I created this page to serve as sort of an almanac of everything America! The United States, to me, is more then just the place I live in. It is an idea, an expierment, American values (As I understand them) are my values. I believe this place to be an unfinished experiment, an idea set forth 250 years ago that is still unfolding and progressing. Each step, however difficult and bloody, is a step towards a more perfect union. A place where every human being is entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. A place where you can live your life unencumbered. Be who you want to be. No matter what anyone else, or any government wants you to be. This place is home to so many diverse people, from every continent, every other nation, every religion, every orientation, gender, creed, what ever facet of human diversity you can think of. You can find them here. We are not a "shining city on a hill", we likely never will be. But each step towards that goal means a better life for an untold number of human beings. Each step towards a more free, just, equal, and perfect union, means a better place for those who call the USA home. We have floundered in that quest, but we, collectively as a country, need to keep moving forward. We need to learn more from our past, good and bad, and use that to build a better tomorrow. I want this page to be a repository of things that make America, America. Symbols, music, religion, history, cusine, culture, the good, the bad, the in-between, everything. Almost like my own digital museum of Americana. It's an ambitious project. It will not be free of my own opinions and biases, but I hope that it can help change minds, maybe even convince people that the American experiment is worth fighting for still, after all these years. I am not loyal to any government or individual here, I am loyal to the Dream only. E Pluribus Unum!
