"You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you." - Ray Bradbury

Introduction

I have decided to try experimenting in poetry! I have always loved reading poems, and after reading through the classic medieval French love story Aucassin and Nicolette, I decided to try my hand at poetry!! We will see how it goes!

Sic Semper Tyrannis - February 22nd, 2026

I wrote this poem after finishing Virginia Giuffre's memoir Nobody's Girl. Virginia was a chief accuser of Jeffery Epstein and Ghislane Maxwell. She is also the main accuser against the former Prince Andrew. The book details her lifetime of abuse. She was abused by family far before she met Epstein. It is a heartbreaking but hugely important read. She would go on to fight for abuse victims everywhere, but sadly passed away from suicide in 2025. This poem was me trying to articulate my thoughts after finishing such an emotionally raw book. Release the files and lock them all up.

You grew up in Hell, facing nothing but strife.

The monsters around you, they stole your life.

Attacked and abused, by those you trust.

Sacrificed on an altar, to statisfy their lust.

Forced into "service", by those at the top.

Unable to move, but yet, unable to stop.

Only one desire, like your horses, "run free".

He countered with his claim, "You belong to me".

Finally escaped, with the help of a man.

Marriage, a new life, in a foreign land.

3 beautiful children, love in their eyes.

But nothing you could do, could silence your cries.

Abused by royalty, might makes right.

To combat the Prince, arises a Knight.

You fight for the others, for justice, for life.

Still you are beaten, on the edge of a knife.

You are gone from us now, but your not alone.

Now, thanks to you, the whole world will know.

We will fight them forever, topple their crown.

We will let them know, in your name, "God's gonna cut you down."
